ADU houses, also known as grandmother's apartments or guest rooms, are new constructions that are attached to or separated from an existing home. It acts as a self-contained home with its own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room. The assisted living unit may act as a guest house, a rental unit, a separate living or work space, or a pool house.

Adding a room is a great opportunity to expand the space and living space with additional square meters. These projects are often done to enlarge the kitchen, family room or master bedroom, or add a new bedroom and/or bathroom. This construction may also include the construction of a second or third floor.
